Kawempe region is set to host the week 9 of the prestigious 2013 Nile Special Open Pool championship qualifiers that have seen 82 players qualify so far.
Diana’s Pub in Kanyanya has replaced the earlier scheduled game city at Northern by-pass. Other bars to host the Kawempe do are: Nansana (Big Zone) , Kasangati (Afro Club) and Kawempe’s Los Angeles.
“Pool and Nile Special are inseparable, please be there in large numbers”, urges Timothy Kayondo, the Nile Special Brand Manager, ahead of this week’s thrilling pool action.
The Nile Special Open pool championship is the biggest event on the local calendar of the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU), after the breweries giants sunk a whooping Ug Shs. 1.71 billion for 3 years of which a total sum of over Ug. shs 330 is planned for the each year.
128 players will play at the main grand finals of the championships on 31st August at Lugogo indoor stadium. 120 players have to qualify from the country wide regions and the 8 top seeded pool players in the country have been already guaranteed a bye to the finals.
So far, 8 playing regions of Makindye, Northern Uganda, Central, Eastern, Rubaga, Mid-west, Nakawa and western have produced 82 players off 41 playing centers.
Willing participants just have to buy 2 Bottles of Nile Special Beers and participate.The Winner at each Center bags 100,000 cash, a branded Nile Special and PAU Medal and a Certificate while the runners up pockets Ug shs. 50,000 and a certificate.
Approximately 2500 players are expected to be taking part in this nationwide tournament whose defending champion is Skin Samona’s Alfred “Black Sheep” Gumisiriza.
