2012 Uganda Amateur Golf Open champion Phillip Kasozi, has been been given the task to leading a four man team for the seventh Africa Amateur Golf Team Championship (AAGTC) at Royal Swazi Spa Country Club in Swaziland from October 20-23.

Kasozi, is once again the captain of the side that includes 2013 Uganda Amateur Golf Open champion Peter Ssendawula, others on the team include Fort Portal’s duo of Ronald Otile and Adolf Muhumuza.

“We have choosen a strong side and believe they can return in a respectable position,” Johnson Omollo, the UGU secretary said. “This is a team of good players and also one that we are building for the future.” 

The mode of play for the tournament is Stroke Play with scores of the best three golfers in each team being taken for consideration. The team will the lowest score will be declared champions of the tournament South Africa are the defending champions and have won the tournament a record six times.

Other countries expected to compete at the continental showpiece include Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, Reunion Island, Mauritius and Botswana.

The team will immediately return and be joined Willy Deus Kitata, Daniel Baguma, Robert Oluba and Titus Okwong who will then take part in the East Africa Golf Challenge that will be held at the Great Rift Valley Golf Resort from October 28-November 1.
