Reigning Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) lady Woodball player of the year, Lillian Zawedde fought gallantly to win the 5th Kyambogo Woodball open tourney that was held at the Peace park, Kyambogo University on Saturday.

“Winning is my intended target every time I set foot on the woodball fairways, because now the public, my sponsors and the fans expect nothing than victory”, Zawedde who lost the championship title to Shallot Shatushemeza said.

Zawedde scored 53 strokes, 13 and 15 better than Gladys Nakijjoba and Sophie Namuddu who finished second and third respectively.

Perhaps, Brunno Tumukondo, playing for Ndejje Club had the best scores over all, with a 47 strokes score, one above Bishop Stauart University’s Michael Mutebi.

Kyambogo College school had a clean sweep in the men and women secondary school’s event while St Francis Primary School returned the best scores in the primary school category.

“Woodball is a great sport; it is always incumbent upon you everywhere to take up the sport. For the young ones, it will grant you the avenue of travelling to international woodball competitions”, Paul Mark Kayongo encouraged the youngsters to take up the sport.
