South Africa’s Teagan Gauche and Namibia’s Paul Ndeilenga were disqualified from playing this morning in the singles matches on Day 3 of action at the Africa Zone VI golf championships at the par 72 Kitante course at the Uganda golf Club.

The two players were disqualified for reporting late for their tee times by the starters on the tee box hole 1 by the starters Deo Akope and Royal and Ancient delegate Tony Rocke.

Gauche was to play Kenya’s Robinson Owiti at 8.20 am, but reported 10 minutes late for his game while Ndeilenga was to play Swaziland’s James Pennington at 8.10 am, but never showed up for his game too.

But in a desperate attempt to salvage themselves the South African team sent a person to Sheraton Hotel to try and get their player started, but Rocke told them the rules are very clear and they had no option, but to disqualify the South African.

The golfers were supposed to tee off from the second nine and others on the first nine, but the starters decided that they should all tee off on the first nine.
