The draw for the 2015 Afrobasket Women took place on Saturday at the Palais des Congres (Congres Palace) in Yaounde, Cameroon.
Uganda’s Gazelles were pooled in Group A alongside continent heavy weights, Mozambique and hosts Cameroon. Mali, Gabon and South Africa complete Uganda’s group.
Gazelle’s used home court to make the continental championship for the first time ahead of perennial Zone V representatives Egypt.
Tournament defending champions Angola were drawn into Group B alongside Senegal Algeria, a wild card and qualifiers from Zone II and Zone III
The first phase of the tournament will be played in a round robin format, with every team taking on the five group opponents . The top four teams from each group will advance knockout phase from the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final.
The 2015 AfroBasket Women will be held from September 24 to October 3 in Yaounde and serves as a qualifying event for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
It is the first time that Cameroon is hosting the event that is staged every two years.
