***UPDATE 2: Postmortem report shows Fahad Musana died of Pneumonia ***
**UPDATE: Simab F.C’s Uganda Premier League match postponed ***
Sunday, just like any other day started on a bright note for Simba F.C footballer, Fahad Musana, 24.
After the early morning training routine at the Bombo military stadium with the rest of his teammates, no-one suspected anything unfortunate would befall the club.
It was suddenly halted as news filtered through that Musana had breathed his last in a Bombo Town makeshift video hall during the English Premier league fixture between Manchester City and Chelsea on Sunday.
Musana, who was marking his second season with army side, Simba F.C, had featured in the opening game of his team’s 0-1 Uganda Premier League victory over Entebbe F.C at Nakivubo stadium on Saturday.
“He even trained with us at the Bombo military Baracks stadium in the morning of the fateful incident and completed the session well.” a seemingly shocked Fred Kajoba, his coach at the Simba told Kawowo Sports on phone.
MUSANA’s LAST 3 HOURS OF LIFE:
According to a close associate, also teammate — Gerald Bagoole, Musana did not complain of any illness even by the time he entered the video hall to watch his favorite Chelsea football club.
“We trained with him on Sunday morning, had lunch together. When the premier league matches commenced, he went to watch from near his residence (near Namaliga – Don Bosco) and I also went to a different video hall,” Bagoole, totally in shock narrated to Kawowo Sports.
Bagoole, scorer of Simba’s winning penalty over Entebbe adds that Musana successfully watched the Leicester city F.C vs Manchester United match, and was keen to watch the second one (Manchester City vs Chelsea).
“He has been a passionate fan of Chelsea and would do anything for the club, apart form gambling”, Bagoole, who distances the deceased from betting.
During the match which Chelsea took the lead through Andre Schurle, Bagoole looked lively and jovial, until when Frank Lampard equalized for the Blues. At that moment (of Frank Lampard’s goal), Musana fainted and everyone in the hall got concerned.
He was offered fresh air but all efforts were in vain as he had long been dead even before being taken to the nearby Bombo Military hospital.
“Musana has been a great defender, committed to the game and was a great friend to many”, Bagoole says of the fallen comrade, who scored the winning goal that promoted Iganga Town Council to the top flight football league way back in 2006.
With virtually no recorded history of any ill-health to the deceased, there are now several emerging schools of thought that might explain Musana’s sudden death.
Being a staunch Chelsea die-hard, it is believed shock might have led to his heart failure and breathing complications.
Perhaps, there is need to realize that Musana suffered a slight knock on the head during the Entebbe game in the second stanza, but he was allowed back to continue with play after receiving medication.
There is therefore room for speculation (Subject to postmortem report), he might have suffered complications from that head injury suffered during the match.
By Sunday night, he body of the deceased was still in the Bombo Hospital Mortuary with an overnight vigil at his rental in Bombo town (Namaliga village).
As usual, Kawowo Sports will keep you abreast of burial arrangements and any other upcoming developments.
