Yunus Ssentamu’s AS Vita held 2-2 in first leg of Champions League final

Yunusu ‘Junior’ Ssentamu’s Congo side, AS Vita Club were held to 2-2 draw at home by Entente Setif of Algeria in the first leg of the Orange/CAF Champions League final in Kinshasa on Sunday night.
Under heavy threats of rain, the party started slightly balanced. But it was the visiting team that showed the tip of the ear in the early minutes of the game that Ugandan forward played full time.
ES Setif took a 0-1 lead after Bawaka Mabele scored in own goal in the 17th minute of the game played at Tata Raphael stadium.
With just few minutes to end first half, ES Setif’s defender, Mohamed Lagraa handled the ball in his box and the referee pointed to the spot, only to see Lema Mabidi colly level matters.
Thirteen minutes into second half Akram Djahnit rounded Vita’s goalkeeper and tapped home from close range to make it 2-1 in favor of the visitors.
However in 77th minute, Mabidi sent the home fans in celebrations after the striker leveled the score and completed his brace score for the first leg to end 2-all.
Entente Setif will host the return leg of the final next month.
The eventual victors will not only win the $1.5-million first prize but will also book a place in the Club World Cup in Morocco in December, where they have been drawn to face the winners of the playoff between home side Moghreb Tetouan and Auckland City.
