Uganda is set to host the 2016 Africa Zone 5B handball tournament.

The positive development follows a letter of acknowledgement granting the Uganda Handball Federation to host the International Handball Federation (IHF) Trophy 2016 of the Zone 5B.

A letter dated 4th February 2016 to the president of the Uganda Handball Federation (UHF), signed by the African Handball Federation secretary General, Charles Omboumahou in Cote D’Ivoire reads in part;

We acknowledged receipt of your mail dated 13th January 2016 relating to the candidature of the Uganda Handball Federation for the organization of the IHF Trophy 2016 of the Zone 5B.

The Executive Committee of the African Handball Confederation, after exam of your application file, gave a positive answer to your request.

So, the organization of the IHF Trophy 2016’S tournament for the Zone 5B is allocated to the Uganda Handball Federation

Therefore, the Uganda Handball Federation (UHF) has to organize the playing venues and accommodative facilities of the teams well in time in preparation of the event.

“Uganda has to send the contact details of a person responsible to organize and communicate the date as well” the letter adds.

Also, UHF will set the date and has to notify the member nations ahead of the tournament.

The Africa Zone 5B constituents of several member nations;  Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
