Mawa beats Isabirye to Somalia head coach job

Somalia Football Federation (SFF) has finally named the national team head coach.

Harunah Mawa was named ahead of Alex Isabirye for a 2 year tenure after both tacticians had been fol forwarded for the job.

This followed the failure for Mathias Lule to turn down the job despite having discussed with the federation officials from the Horn of Africa nation.

Mawa thus flies out on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s official unveiling ceremony in Mogadishu.

He will join former Onduparaka goalkeeping coach Moses ‘Ugboss’ Oloya who arrived in Somalia a fortnight ago and started work immediately.

Somalia is ranks lowly among the 211 FIFA member nations and the duo’s immediate tasks at hand will target uplifting the standards of the game in the country.
