A couple of years ago, Daudi Okello inspired St. Mary’s Kitende to the National Junior Volley Championships at King’s College, Budo.
Then in his final year of High School, Okello’s immense talent and work ethic was never in doubt.
He fully joined the League record winners Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) and early this year the Ugandan international joined Rwanda side INATEK (now UNIK) following his impressive performance in last years’ Africa Volleyball Club Championships in Tunisia as well as the regional schools games.
The attacker who led the UNIK to the KAVC International in August has opened a new chapter in Ugandan volleyball by signing a five-year deal with Bulgaria side Marek Union-Ivkoni.
Okello, who had spent nearly two months in the country secured a work permit and made his debut for the Dupnitsa based club last Friday against Montana in the fifth round of the Bulgarian SuperLiga.
Marek lost the game 3-1 (16-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23) and are ninth on the twelve team log.
They return to action tonight against sixth placed Cherno More.
