USPA Elective Assembly: 26th November 2016
- City Tyres Conference Hall, Kamwokya (9 a.m – 2 p.m)
The Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) will convene for their elective assembly at the City Tyres Conference Hall in Kamwokya, Kampala this Saturday.
This follows a last minute change of venue from Christ The King hall after “unforeseen circumstances” according to a communique by the out-going general secretary, Patrick Kanyomozi.
Key on the agenda will be the elections for the sports body.
By press time, incumbent Sabiiti Muwanga of The New Vision and CCTV’s Leon Ssenyange had already been vetted as the two candidates for the presidency.
However, the latest development indicates that Ssenyange had pulled out of the race citing an unfair democratic process.
KFM radio sports presenter Kanyomozi intends to return for the G.S seat and he will be facing Johnson Were of The New Vision.
New Vision’s Michael Nsubuga and Kasule Mubarak (Freelancer) vie for the treasurer’s post as Bukedde T.V’s Wasswa Hussein takes on Star T.V’s Francisco Bwambale for the Organizing secretary position.
USPA recognizes the best sports personalities per month when they hold their respective monthly conventions.
These are followed by the end of year dinner where all the exceling sportsmen and women are rewarded at a glamorous ceremony.
