On Tuesday against Proline, Uganda Premier League debutants Kirinya-Jinja SSS stomached another painful defeat when they lost to Mujib Kasule’s side in a manner so familiar to them.

Like their previous four defeats that ended 1-0, Nelson Senkatuka scored the lone goal to condemn the Jinja side to their fifth loss of the campaign, leaving their captain George Kasonko uncertain of what to do to secure victory.

The side, now under the man who guided them to the premier league Abbey Bogere has had to bear with a challenging stay in top flight filled with disappointments and frustration.

Speaking to Kawowo Sports, Kasonko who has played in every league game this season said; “I don’t know what to tell you.

“We have done everything I mean everything to win a game. We have created countless chances, outplayed our opponents but goals have refused to come.”

“We don’t know what else to do.”

The midfielder further said “I don’t know what the problem is because I believe we have good players upfront. Maybe we are just unlucky.”

The first round comes to an end on Saturday, and Kirinya-Jinja SSS lie second from the bottom.

Having failed to secure a league win since season start, the side has collected just nine points from their 14 games.

While the table suggests they could face the axe, their skipper is not willing to give up the fight and is optimistic things will come good in the second round.

“Last season in the Big League, we performed poorly at the start. We didn’t play well but all that changed in the second round. We turned out a different side and won our group.

“I know this is not the Big league but I’m confident we will improve in the second round. We are not going to allow that [relegation] happen.”
