
Esther Mwangala, a renown motocross rider has embarked on exploring her talent beyond the bike and gravel.
The MX champion is now looking at finding more success on the chess board.
Mwangala will take part in the African Schools Chess championship that will take place next week in Zambia.
She will be joined by juniors from different schools as they represent Uganda.
The 10-year-old Mwangala started a career in Chess with the Decoda Chess Academy that trains juniors from different schools.
She has since participated in several junior tournaments.
Sammy Sebayinda, the Decoda chess academy trainer expressed confidence in his team.
“Am sure my juniors will do well on the continent, they have had a preparation, have seen several competitions. So we expect them to do better and they will all become considered professionals after the tournament.”
The team left for Zambia on Saturday.
