At a time when all focus is on the Africa Cup of Nations due for January 14 to February 5 in Gabon, elsewhere on the continent, national team managers are losing jobs.

On Monday, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) president Jamal Malinzi posted on his verified twitter account confirming the news that Tanzania and Boniface Mkwassa had parted ways .

By mutual consent Coach Boniface Mkwassa contract has today come to an end. Salum Mayanga is the new National Team coach on interim basis”

Salum Mayanga is currently the head coach at Mtibwa Sugar, he will be in charge of the Taifa Stars on an interim basis until a new National team coach is appointed.

He has also worked under former national team head coach Maart Nooij as his deputy.

Mkwassa whose reasons to part ways with Tanzania are yet to be revealed has been with the team since July 2015 and was behind the historical draws against Nigeria and Algeria in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
