Vipers have brought Mike Sserumaga back to the club; the midfielder signing for two years after his contract expired at SC Villa.
The news was confirmed by the club on its official website revealing the midfielder will be unveiled soon alongside other January signings.
Interim coach Richard Wasswa was delighted with the signing of the experienced midfielder who was part of the team that won the 2010 league title at the club, then Bunamwaya.
“I know at SC Villa, he was not doing as well as he did in the past but his talent is not disputable and wants to impress at Vipers,” Wasswa said as quoted on the club website.
The former Police, URA, Proline and Helsingborg star joined the Villa Park side in January last year but has struggled to break into the first team despite his enormous talent.
He is fully aware of the challenge he faces at a club he calls home.
Despite being a prodigal son at Vipers, it’s totally a new challenge and I vow to give it my best to reciprocate the club’s faith in me.
He joins another attacking midfielder, Moses Waiswa as the new signings so far confirmed by the Uganda Cup holders.
The Venoms had a stop-start first half of the campaign which they finished 4th with seven points adrift of log leaders KCCA.
With the CAF Confederations lurking in 2017, they view Sserumaga’s experience as very instrumental to their ambitions.
Vipers resume the Azam Uganda premier league with a clash against Bul FC on 7 Feb, 2017 at Kakindu stadium.
