FUFA Big League: Hope Doves hold Nyamityobora in Mbarara

A brace from Moses Okot denied Nyamityobora Football Club three points at home when the Mbarara side hosted visiting Hope Doves on Thursday in the FUFA Big League.

In fact, Nyamityobora who had taken the lead through Isma Kawawulo went down 2-1 in the opening moments of the second half.

They required an equalizer from January signing, Shaban Omara as they fought for at least a point.

Charles Ayiekho’s coached side now trails Rwenzori Group leaders Masavu by 8 points as the two sides have played 15 games apiece.

In Masaka, skipper Solomon Okwalinga scored the lone goal of the day as Synergy overcame visiting Baza Holdings 1-0 at the Masaka Recreational Stadium.

Synergy now has 23 points from 15 games as they close the gap on the chasing pack.

In the Elgon Group, Maroons continued to set their promotion credentials clear with a 5-2 victory over Doves All Stars at their Luzira fortress.

Maroons now has 35 points, eight better of second placed Ndejje University with both sides having played 15 games apiece.

Kira United were 4-1 winners against Moroto United at the Kira Municipal Council playground.

The FUFA Big League will continue on Saturday with five games at different playgrounds in the country.

Three clubs will be promoted to the Uganda Premier League at the end of the season.
