Uganda Cranes’ Henry Kalungi is expecting nothing less than the best from his colleagues at Charlotte Independence ahead of a series of Preseason matches.
Kalungi spent part of the off-season in home country – Uganda – donating to charity before feeling the home atmosphere during the 2017 Gabon Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) where the national team represented.
He later flew back to the United States and is now getting ready for the new season.
Charlotte has 14 players returning from last season’s roster, and has announced one signing since the start of preseason – Wingate midfielder Callum Ross, who part of the Bulldogs’ 2016 Division II national championship side.
“I think we’ll be in good shape come our first game,” defender Henry Kalungi earlier spoke of their preparations to The Charlotte Post.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to see where the team stands. All the guys know what we are building toward.”
Coach Mike Jeffries tested his men against the MLS Columbus Crew – a match they lost 2-1 at harleston Southern.
And the final in Charleston ends up @ColumbusCrewSC 2 – @CLTIndependence 1 with rookie @callumross94 scoring for the Independence

Kalungi on a positive note met a couple of African “brothers” Harrison and Jomens of MLS Columbus Crew – with whom he shared a light moment.
