Entebbe Marathon targets to help disabled mothers

Entebbe Marathon launch in Entebbe Municipality

Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura will grace the 2017 Entebbe Marathon as the chief runner on 19th March 2017.

The marathon is expected to attract over six thousand participates, with elite runners from different parts of the world including Wuhan city.

The China Communications Construction Company Uganda  (CCCCU) and the  Entebbe Municipal authorities partnered together to  sponsor  the marathon.

CCCCU made  the official communication during a press conference  organized by the  Mayor Vicent Kayanja De Paul  aimed  at  fundraising for the underprivileged in Entebbe municipality.

The Chinese company deputy managing director Ding Jian Ming made the official communication  while handing over a dummy cheque worth thirty million shillings (shs30M) to facilitate in organizing the first edition of  the Entebbe charity marathon 2017  to be held on the 19th March 2017 in Entebbe municipality.

Kayanja noted;

The intention of this marathon is to support the underprivileged, particularly disabled mothers and children.

But also, it is organized with focus on young people to concentrate their energies and avoid involvement in criminal activities.

We are partnering with the Chinese because the things they are doing will be changing our town.

Once the Express Highway is done, one will be 20 minutes away from the city.

The proceeds from the marathon will go towards helping the underprivileged including the disabilities under the Modesta foundation.

The best performers in the 42kms, 21kms and 10kms races will be accorded an opportunity to participate in the Wuhan International Marathon.

The participants are to pay Shs20,000 and Shs10,000 respectively and the  marathon is to start  from Entebbe botanical gardens at 6am with routes via the Entebbe Express Highway and Entebbe central ward.
