AFCON U-20: Senegal overcomes Guinea, qualify for the final

2nd Semi-final:

  • Senegal 1-0 Guinea

  • Final: Zambia Vs Senegal – National Stadium, Lusaka (8 p.m)
  • Third play off: South Africa Vs Guinea  – National Stadium, Lusaka (5 p.m)

Senegal will play host nation, Zambia in the finals of the 2017 AFCON U-20 championship after overcoming Guinea 1-0 in the all West Africa semi-final played on Thursday in Ndola.

Aliou Badji headed home past goalkeeper Moussa Camara for the all important goal on the day after just 12 minutes following a great cross from the right flank by Jean Jacques Ndecky.

From then on, Senegal played it defensive throughout as Guinea tried to force an equalizer but all was in vein.

Ndecky was voted the man of the match for the impressive display.

Senegal faces Zambia in Sunday’s final that will take place at the National stadium in Lusaka.

Zambia had earlier defeated South Africa 1-0 in the first semi-final on Wednesday.

Before the final, Guinea will take on South Africa in the battle for bronze also on Sunday in Lusaka.

All the four semi-finalists will represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
