Bul captain Hakim Magombe applauded his side’s ‘fighting spirit and determination’ following their 1-0 victory over Police on Friday at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
Robert Achema came off the bench to grab the headlines with his long range drive after 70 minutes as Bul defeated Police in a crucial encounter.
“It was a very tough match but the boys played really well,” Magombe said of the game.
“We played under pressure towards the end of game, but we were able to handle it and get the job done.
“We did great in defence denying them to score. One of our core values is perseverance and that showed today. We showed our fighting spirit and determination as a unit.”
Victory moved the Jinja outfit a place up to 14th dislodging fellow Jinja side Kirinya-Jinja. While they remain in the relegation zone, it moved them to within one point and place of safety.
The skipper warned not to write his side off.
“We are satisfied with the win and now we go back home to focus on our next game. We are in a bad position at the moment but I know we will survive that. Don’t write us off as yet.”
