Airtel Uganda launches Kabaka Birthday run kits and ticket sales

  • Kabaka Mutebi II will grace the run like he has done in the previous editions

2017 Airtel Kabaka Birthday Run kits launch at Bulange Mengo in Kampala on 13th March 2017

Close to 5000 participants are expected to grace the 2017 Airtel Kabaka Birth day run on the 7th April 2017.

The run, which is returning for the third year in a row is held to celebrate the annual birth day celebrations for Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

This year’s edition is intended to raise money for patients affected by the Sickle cell disease.

Addressing journalists and sponsors’ representatives, the Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga used the opportunity to down play the barbaric ideology for many people that sickle cell could arise because of being witch hunted.

He thereafter urged the kingdom subjects, friends and well wishers to attend the run.

Many of our people still think that diseases as Sickle Cell could arise because of witches.

This thinking is wrong.

In a special way, he thanked all the run sponsors and called upon maximum attendance.

Registration and Ticket selling points:

There are three ticket selling points namely; Majestic Brands head offices at Bulange in Mengo, Kampala, Airtel Uganda head office.

There is also an on-line registration mode through the One Global system.

Uganda Sickle Rescue fund has led the way for the tickets purchase with a Ug.shs 8M purchase of tickets.

During the launch, there was entertainment from Jjajja Muzinge Foundation singing duo of Muzinga and Kularguavo as well as the Sickle Cell patients at the Our Lady of Africa school in Luwero.

Telecommunications giants Airtel Uganda Limited is the main sponsor of the run.
