Kenya’s Tirop ready to prove herself on the World Cross Country stage

World Cross country champion Agnes Tirop of Kenya has revealed she is ready to show everyone why she’s worth the top accolades ahead of the 41st edition of the event in Kampala, Uganda.

Since winning in Guiyang, China, Tirop has been nursing an injury. Her return to training was recent and she hasn’t felt any better prepared till now despite being nervous.

“It is true I am nervous. It has been a while since I made the Kenya team,” she told Xinhua.

“You always wonder if you will come back strong and whether your body will take the challenge.

“I have done well in training and now it is about time I prove myself on the world stage again.”

The 21-year-old will not find it easy as stiff competition becons from World 3,000m steeplechase champ Hyving Kiyeng and Olympic 1,500m winner Faith Chepng’ etich Kipyegon.
