Kibuli Secondary School won a Handball double in the 2017 Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) games held at Welden and Nyamityanga in Mbarara.
The Kampala-based school triumphed in both the boys and girls categories.
Under the boys’ category, Kibuli won all their matches against Gombe, Wagwa, Mbogo Mixed and Kakungulu Memorial with 35 – 17, 36-07, 23-05 and 16-23 respectively.
Kibuli thus finished top with a maximum 8 points as Gombe took bronze with 4 points.
In the girl’s category, Kibuli defeated Gombe 20-14 after a physical contest.
Gombe were 11-08 winners against Wagwa to take the girl’s third place.
Handball was one of the 6 sporting disciplines at the 2017 UMEA Solidarity games in Mbarara.
Other sports included football, volleyball, netball, table tennis and badminton
Table Tennis and Badminton were played for the first time in the history of the games.
Nyamitanga and Welden schools co-hosted the games only played by institutions with a Muslim foundation.
