Vipers head to into the game against Soana on Friday in desperate need of a morale boosting victory that puts an end to their in house woes.

The Venoms were humbled away at Police in a dismal 2-0 defeat and calls for a reshuffle in the coaching staff were loud with fans calling for Miguel Da Costa’s assistants to resign and leave the Portuguese in charge alone.

Their requests were reportedly granted with Edward Golola, Richard Wasswa and Stephen Kiggundu (Goalkeeping coach) all temporarily forced to step aside leaving Da Costa in charge of the remaining fixtures starting with Soana.

On paper, Soana, with less to chase in the league pose little threat to the Venoms but side’s confidence is at rock bottom and Alex Isabirye’s men will be sensing blood.

Vipers are winless in their previous three league matches and four in all competitions while Soana have now picked three league triumphs on the bounce, including a great 3-2 come from behind win against Sadolin Paints in their last outing.

Esenu faces former bosses

If picked, striker Musa Esenu will have an opportunity to face his former bosses, a side he left after an impressive half season after joining from MUBS.

But he has struggled for play time at Kitende although he remains hopeful of regaining his mojo at the two time champions and it will be exciting to see him play against Isabirye’s side.

“I am convinced that everything is going to be fine and I will be able to give the best I have to my club,” Esenu told the club website.

“This is my hope and with this dream, I will work hard every day. There’s no pressure on me whatsoever and I am sure it’s just a matter of time for me to shine again. This is something that I focus on each day,” he added.

The Coach in charge of his 9th league game against Vipers and already boosts of 3 wins, 4 draws and losing only one to the Venoms – with URA FC for two spells plus one season at SC Victoria University and Bul FC respectively.

Besides, Isabirye has beaten the Kitende based side to two Uganda Cup triumphs; in 2012 under his tenure, URA beat Vipers then Bunamwaya 1-0 through Sentongo Robert’s solo strike too lift the cup at Pece Stadium in Gulu and in 2013, he guided his new side SC Victoria University when he wrestled the Venoms via a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regulation in time.
