CAA edge 10 man Fresh Handling in Entebbe Airport Community Shield League opener

2017 Entebbe Airport Community Shield League:

  • CAA 1-0 Fresh Handling Services

The 2017 Entebbe Airport Stakeholders Football League season started on a perfect note  on Thursday at the Airport Football ground with 2016 defending champions Fresh Handling taking on Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Isaac Webber
Sharon Haris (second from left) the general manager of Protea Hotel was among the key guests at the opening match

Stephen Sserubiri’s first half penalty that resulted from a deliberate handball by Aggrey Waiswa in the forbidden area won the day for Civil Aviation Authority.

Referee Jamil Sedunga sent off the handball culprit  Waiswa  to grant numerical advantage to CAA.

Sserubiri would have easily made it 2-0 but failed to beat the goalie in a one against one incident.

Jonah Rothomio had a  goal disallowed from Fresh Handling for an off-side call.

Towering CAA defender Noah Were was the man of the match after his fantastic display.

The Entebbe Airport Stakeholders league Chairman Tom Byarugaba appreciated both CAA and Fresh Handling for their participation and revealed that the League will start on May 15, 2017 and climax on November 15, 2017.

I would like to thank both CAA and Fresh Handling for managing to turn up despite the busy Airport working schedule.

We have had so many challenges in the organization but I want to assure you all that we shall have a free and fair game.

In a very special way I would like to thank our patron Sharon Haris  for supporting us with a trophy worth 1,000 USD (About 4 million).

I appeal to all the participating teams to observe discipline during the matches.

14 teams will participate in the 2017 league including CAA, Fresh Handling, UCIFA, Das, ENHAS, Aviation Police, Inflight, SFC, UPDAF, United Nations, GSL, Protea Hotel and Lake Victoria Hotel.
