Uganda Cricket Association has officially announced today that the Division 3 World Cricket League will take place in Kampala from 23rd May to 30th May.

This will be the first time that Uganda hosts a tournament of that magnitude after missing out on hosting the same event in 2014 at the last minute due to security concerns.

The tournament will involve Oman, USA, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada and Uganda. The eventual winners and runners up will gain promotion to Division 2 while the bottom two teams will be demoted to Division 4.

Paul Kaheeru, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee stated that all preparations are in high gear with various committees set up to make sure all will be well.

The ICC has trusted Uganda to host such a huge international event ans we will not let them down.We will make Uganda proud and after this, we will definitely be granted  many more international events to host.

The LOC also has Rita Tinka (Catering), Martin Ondenko (Transport), Alvin Bagaya (Accommodation), Kenneth Mulondo (Accreditation), Hanumant Katkar (Stadia), Eric kamara (Liaison), Dr. David Meya (Medical), AIGP Andrew Sorowen (Security).

Tournament Director and Uganda Cricket CEO, Justine Ligyalingi mentioned that Uganda stands to benefit a lot from hosting a tournament of this magnitude as it will give us good credit for hosting future tournaments.

He stated that if Uganda qualified for Divsion 2, they would get a chance to play more ODI games and this as well would increase the funding Uganda gets from the ICC.

Ligyalingi clarified that the tournament costs are being shared between the host Uganda cricket (25%) and the ICC (75%).

Meanwhile, Team Uganda will follow up their series win against Kenya with another tour with Saudi Arabia starting who arrive on 29th of this month. The itinerary for the tour will be communicated with time.
