Nadeem Zakaria will be swapping his spectator and sponsor roles for some ‘va voom’.
Zakaria will partner with Fathy Saleh as his co-driver in a Mitsubishi Evo 7 at this weekend’s Stado Mzizima Rally in Bagamoyo.
He is already excited about his first competitive appearance.
“After many years of being part of the sport and wishing to be a rally driver, I decided it’s time for me to get in on the action.
“It should be a good feeling to finally be taking part.
“Truth be told, driving has always been in my bucket list,” explained Zakaria.
Zakaria will be following in his brother Naem Abdulkarim’s footsteps who he believes struck off his dream to reality.
“When my brother joined rallying last year, the urge to join itched me even more.
“And the breakthrough came when he(Naem) gave me a rally car as my birthday gift this year. And this was the best opportunity for me to start,” he told Kawowo Sports.
The Stado Mzizima rally will run for two day covering twelve stages with a total competitive distance of 108.37 kilometres.
“I am hoping for a trouble free and safe event. My aim is to get to the finish line intact regardless of the position.
“I hope to do better following several trainings from champion Jamil Khan. He has taken me through all the basic things and I believe they will be helpful in this weekend,” he said.
