Tactician and former Uganda Cranes player Ibrahim Sekagya’s New York Red Bulls II succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bethlehem Steel FC on Friday night at MSU Soccer Park.
Former Red Bulls Academy product and brother of NYRB II defender David Najem, Adam Najem stung his former club, Santi Moar completing the scores.
Bethlehem’s Adam Najem opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the match knocking one over the head of Rafael Diaz.
Vincent Bezecourt came close to leveling the scores in the 19th minute with a rebound off of a Junior Flemmings cross, but Jake McGuire cleared.
NYRB II could have equalized in the 41st minute as well but Florian Valot’s shot kissed the crossbar coming mere inches just before the half.
Bethlehem’s Moar doubled the lead chipping Diaz in the 57th minute. New York chased the game the rest of but couldn’t find the back of the net.
It was the first time Coach Wolyniec alongside Sekagya saw New York Red Bulls go scoreless in consecutive matches since 2015.
NYRB II heads to Canada to face Ottawa Fury FC next on Saturday, at TD Place Stadium.
