Kenya enjoy rich history against Rugby Cranes

Kenya Uganda lineout Elgon Cup 2016

The Kenya Simbas have won the last three meetings between them and the Rugby Cranes.

They carry a 5-point advantage heading into the return leg of this year’s Elgon Cup having won the first leg 23-18 at Legends.

While history books show that Uganda first played Kenya in 1934, there isn’t much information and facts to relate this match up todate.

The first game between the two sides that can be traced through the history books is the 21-11 win for the Kenyans in a game played in Kampala on May 24, 1958.

After the 58 fixture, it took 39 years until the two sides would meet again.

The Kenyans obliterated their counterparts in a 65-05 pummeling at the RFUEA grounds in Nairobi on August 23, 1997.

Kenya posted three more wins before Uganda could test victory against their noisy neighbours.

The first win for Uganda came on October 5, 2002 in a 31-22 victory that broke the jinx in Nairobi.

Kenya have since transferred their dominance to the Elgon Cup, winning 9 against Uganda’s 3 in the last 12 editions.

Kenya will lock horns with Uganda this weekend in the second leg of the Elgon Cup and already have the advantage having won in Uganda.
