With UCU Lady Canons yet to face either JKL Lady Dolphins or KCCA Leopards, it is right to say that they win without breaking much sweat against the rest of the teams.

The back-to-back champions defeated KIU Rangers 57-48 at the YMCA court, Wandegeya on Sunday afternoon.

UCU captain Vilma Achieng and guard Ritah Imanishimwe didn’t feature for the Mukono outfit but Rachael Muwanguzi and Judith Nansobya ensured their side remained unbeaten this season.

Nick Natuhereza’s charges started off with a 12-6 run and went on to take the first quarter 18-12.

UCU edged their opponents 12-11 in a tightly contested second quarter and went into the halftime break with a 7-point lead (30-23).

The second half still belonged to the defending champions as they took the third 14-13 and the last 10 minutes 13-12 to win the game 57-48.

Muwanguzi scored a game high 16 points on the day while Nansobya added 14. Zainah Lokwameri scored 11 points on the day.

For the Rangers, Fionah Apio and Ritah Komugisha scored 10 apiece while Maureen Nankya and Moureen Atulinda added 8 each.

Javon Ladies defeated Nkumba Lady Marines 68-62 in the last ladies’ game of the day. Rhoda Naggita scored 26 points for Javon while Brendah Ekon’s 32 points were not enough for Nkumba to win the game.
