Geoffrey Sserunkuma struck at the death of half time but it wasn’t enough as KCCA lost 2-1 to Rivers United in Port Harcourt.
The loss leaves them with a big task to reach the quarter finals of the Total CAF Confederation Cup but how did the players rate on the day?
Douglas Kisembo 4.5: Still no clean sheet on his second start on the continent but takes little blame for either goals. Made two good saves in either half before he suffered an injury ten minutes after the break but still has a lot to improve as a goalkeeper.
Denis Okot 4.0: Ripped apart by Bolaji Sakini. Miscued the ball for the winning goal and was lucky not to give away a penalty when he tripped Ovoke in the area.
Habib Kavuma 3.0: He should have done better than fouling that saw him sent off. In sixes and sevens in the first half but slightly improved in the second half before the Red Card.
Timothy Awany 5.5: Could have done better to organise the backline but arguably the best of the three man defence on the day.
Isaac Muleme 6.0: Brilliant energy levels and put in a few crosses. Arguably KCCA’s best player on the day.
Muzamiru Mutyaba 5.0: Struggled to have an influence on the game and bar the effort from the free kick that resulted into Sserunkuma’s goal, he was in oblivion.
Tom Masiko 5.5: Short and long-range passing from midfield was sharp and precise, but unusually let down by set-piece delivery
Allan Okello 4.0: The young midfielder had a few touches on the ball and was bullied by the big Nigerian midfielders. Withdrawn for Ivan Ntege midway the second half.
Julius Poloto 4.0: Earned his debut continental start and struggled to make an impact though always willing.
Geoffrey Sserunkuma 6.0: Lacked service but showed his predatory instincts with the only goal for the Kasasiro.
Derrick Nsibambi 5.5: Headed narrowly wide in the first half and lacked service he thrives on but still dug deep for possession and won a couple of free kicks.
Substitutes
Benjamin Ochan 6.0: Looked composed and confident when he came on despite playing with a bad injury that restricted him from starting in goal.
Ivan Ntege 5.0: His introduction saw KCCA try to gain control of the midfield but too little too late.
Vincent Kayizzi 4.0: Replaced Poloto late in the game but made little impact.
Mike Mutebi 5.0: In the absence of a natural defensive midfielder, Mutebi named the young Okello and Poloto in a line up away from home and the move seemed to backfire as they made no telling impact.
