National Hockey League: Kampala Swans entertain Rhinos

Two sides with similar woeful starts in the National Hockey League go head to head on Saturday as Kampala Hockey Club Swans take on Rhinos.

The Swans have suffered humiliating defeats since the campaign kicked off last month. In their opening game, they embarrassingly lost 11-0 to defending champions Wananchi before going down 4-1 against Weatherhead Gazelles in their second game.

And two weeks ago lost 4-0 to Deliverance Church Uganda. The game on Saturday presents them with an opportunity to secure their first win as they come up against a debuting side although they will not find it easy given Rhinos is a team that broke away from KHC.

The league debutants will want to prove a point, and for the first time, the likes of Susan Khainza, Annet Awar and Vero Atim will be facing their former side.

Rhinos put up a decent show against Deliverance in their maiden game, but were unfortunate to lose 4-3, and against a ruthless Wananchi side last weekend, they conceded only 5 goals. Many had predicted Khainza’s side to concede in double figures, but the side managed to prevent an embarrassing result.

Rhinos sit second last in the table standings while KHC are rooted to the bottom. Both sides have no points.
