Zimbabwe to host the African Schools Individual Chess Championships

This year’s African Schools Individual Chess Championships shall be hosted by the Zimbabwe Chess Federation [ZCF].

The Championships shall be held at the luxurious The Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe for ten days from August 19-28.

In accordance with the FIDE rules, the event is open to all players from federations within the African continent that are affiliated to the world chess governing body, FIDE.

Each federation is allowed to enter up to five players in each category, with each entitled to register an official player in each category totaling up to 12 official players.

The official players shall be catered for by the hosting federation while others will be responsible for all their expenses.

Only players aged 17 and below are allowed to compete, with the event grouped under six categories [U7, U9, U11, U13, U15, and U17] for both boys and girls.
