National Hockey League: Wananchi seek to widen gap atop

Wananchi [W] enter Sunday’s game against Deliverance Church Uganda looking to consolidate their position at the top.

Wananchi’s 5-0 win over debutants Rhinos last weekend coupled with the fact that the Weatherhead-Deliverance church game didn’t happen meant Wananchi regained the top spot in the league last weekend.

And this weekend, they will look to widen the gap atop. They are up against Deliverance who they should be able to outclass.

While Deliverance won all their opening games, Wananchi is a completely different opponent as compared to Kampala Swans and Rhinos their victims.

It will come as little surprise if the defending champions extend their lead at the top of the table tomorrow.

And should they as expected go on to earn the three points, it will take their tally to nine points, three above their direct rivals Weatherhead who are out of action this weekend.

Both Wananchi and Deliverance are on form having both won their respective two games, but the former are overwhelming favorites to win the tie.

The number one spot is at stake with both sides on six points. Deliverance will try to secure a rare victory, and should they succeed, they will go top of the table.

Deliverance currently sit third while Wananchi are placed on top of the table.
