Wananchi maintained their perfect start in the National Hockey League with a 7-2 demolition of Deliverance Church Uganda.
The tone was set in the 9th minute when the 2015 top scorer Josephine De Rider opened the scoring to net her first goal of the campaign.
The club’s top scorer last season and the current leading goal-getter in the league Doreen Mbabazi then followed suit in the 21st minute with her sixth of the campaign to make it two for her side, and Doreen Asiimwe found the third- her third of the season, before De Rider scoring the fourth in the stoppage minute of the first half.
De Rider then completed her hat-trick in the 50th minute to end the game as a contest.
Deliverance got a consolation through Lucy Akello, but their tormentors were not done yet. The duo of Lucy Teddy Achiro and Topista Anyango joined the party, with Anyango scoring her second of the season, while Achiro took her tally to three.
With three minutes to the end of the game, Shatra Namata found the second consolation for Deliverance as they suffered their first defeat of the season.
Deliverance, like Wananchi had not lost a game since season start, but this loss was expected.
Wananchi remain top of the table with 9 points collected from three games, while Deliverance on six points stay third.
