Unlike in the previous years when he lost the title chase in the early stages of the season, this year Duncan Mubiru has a chance to slag it out to the end with just two events remaining to end the season with the next.

‘Kikankane’ bounced back in title contention following his fourth position among the nationals during the pearl of Africa rally last month.

He is currently 85 points behind championship leader Christakis Fitidis who stands at 315 points.

“I have set myself for a win this weekend. We shall go flat-out from the start there will be no loosening up since only a win can put us closer to the title.

“The car is all new again and it will be able to handle the challenge very well. We are sure of a win if the car behaves,” he asserted.

While Mubiru eyes victory this weekend, he will have to pray that his title rivals finish in further positions.

Christakis Fitidis, Ronald Sebuguzi and Kuku Ranjeet are the other drivers who are in line for the title contention in Hoima.

Mubiru will have George Semakula calling the pace motes in the Subaru Impreza N14.
