Two-time National Basketball League champions Warriors put Nkumba Marines to the sword on Friday night at Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

Despite having a slow start Warriors regrouped quickly to hand Marines a second successive loss in the second round with a resounding 92-64 win.

Marines (2-11) who sit at the bottom of the table lost to Power last weekend and were never going to trouble Ronnie Mutebi’s charges whose only loss of the season came against defending champions City Oilers.

A 13-8 deficit midway the opening quarter was turned into a 23-20 lead at the end of the period by Warriors who never trailed again as they turned in a balanced team effort winning the next three frames 22-11, 27-16 and 20-17.

Michael Bazangu led the way with 15 points, Imran Samad and Ceasra Kizito contributed 13 points apiece while Isaac Kamya and Amisi Saidi chipped in with 10 points each.

Brian Sivachi scored game high 18 points for Nkumba who are likely to return to the division they only left last year. Nibert Byamukama added 17 points.
