Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) defeated Nemostars 3-1 to win the National Clubs Championship held at Uganda Christian University, Mukono over the weekend.

KAVC will now represent Uganda at the men’s Africa Clubs Championship to be held next year in a country yet to be confirmed.

The record league winners started the final with purpose and took the first set 25-15 with Nemostars struggling to get a thing right.

Andrew Okapis’ charges recovered and took the second set 25-22 to level matters and set pace for a thrilling finale.

KAVC regrouped in the third set as Savior Atama and setter Amon Ainebyona penetrating the porous Nemostars net defence. They took the third set 25-22 and carried the advantage going into the fourth.

The fourth set provided the highlights of the game as Nemostars recovered from 16-22 to level at 22-all. KAVC, however, held on to take the set and the game, to the excitement of the crowd in red.

KAVC last played at the continental championship in 2015 having won the national league in 2014.

Nemostars will now focus on winning the league if they are to represent the country at the African championship.
