Lady Cricket Cranes off to Namibia for World Cup Qualifiers

Uganda Cricket together with National Council of Sports today flagged off a team of 14 ladies and 4 officials for the Africa T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Namibia.

The tournament will run from September 8-15 in Windhoek where Uganda will tussle it out with four other nations for the single slot available for Africa.

The other countries include hosts Namibia, Kenya, Tanzania and Zimbabwe with Uganda taking on the hosts Namibia in their first game.

Kevin Awino of Jinja SS is the captain for the tour in the place of regular captain Barbara Mukankusi who is on Maternity leave. She will be assisted by Wanderers Captain Janet Mbabazi.

Team Coach Francis Otieno suffered heartache with the U19 boys in Nairobi and he will be hoping the girls can deliver the holy grail which is a berth in the global World Cup qualifiers.

The team flies out this afternoon and expected to arrive in Namibia later today.
