Weatherhead Gazelles head into their opening game of the third round hoping to return to winning ways.
The side will take on Kampala Hockey Club Swans on Saturday looking to avoid a successive defeat and hoping to regain the bragging rights.
Having picked up just four points from a possible twelve in the past few weeks, Weatherhead will be keen on regaining their winning touch. The Gazelles ended the second round on a wrong side after they lost 3-1 to KHC a couple of weeks.
It was a loss that kept them third only on goal difference as KHC tied points on ten. Two defeats and a draw in their last four matches meant Weatherhead had to drop their title ambitions. The side was hoping to win their first league title in three years, but that’s not possible now as Wananchi lead the table with 24 points, 14 ahead of Weatherhead.
Defeat tomorrow will see them make way for the Swans- who have resurrected at the right time- in the third position. The Swans started the league awfully but have slowly gained momentum, and that victory over Weatherhead meant things at the club are finally getting to shape.
