Defending champions KCCA had goalie Charles Lukwago to thank for a point in their opening match against new entrants Maroons at Lugogo.
The Kasasiro were favourites to take all points and started well with Allan Okello missing a glorious opportunity inside five minutes.
But the visitors settled into the game and former KCCA striker William Wadri had two headed efforts well saved by Charles Lukwago in the Kasasiro goal.
However, Emmanuel Akol, his opposite number made a couple of catches to deny Okello from long range efforts.
With eleven minutes to half time, Pius Obuya thought he had put the Prisons’ side in the lead but Lukwago again made a point blank save to deny the youngster.
Mike Mutebi made changes — introducing Paul Musamali for Habib Kavuma, Allan Okello also paved way for Julius Poloto and the final throw of the dice was Lawrence Bukenya replacing Muzamiru Mutyaba.
At the end of the day, both teams settled for a point and Lukwago was arguably the man of the match for the Kasasiro.
