URA FC opened their 2017/18 Uganda Premier League campaign with a slim but important 2-1 win over UPDF FC at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.
Fred Okot and Labama Bokota Kamana scored for the hosts in a closely contested clash before Walter Rubankene pulled one back for the visitors.
Okot’s goal came at the death of half time when he deflected a brilliant Brian Majwega cross past the goalie and Bokota doubled the lead eight minutes after the break.
The visitors, coached by interim Uganda Cranes coach Moses Basena pulled one back through Rubankene whose headed effort hit the back of the net but the hosts held on for maximum points.
URA, who visit Kirinya Jinja SS in their next game over the weekend are now log leaders despite tying with SC Villa on three points but the Tax Collectors have scored one more goal than the Jogoos.
Meanwhile, URA new signing Henry Kisekka suffered a concussion and was rushed to hospital where he received medical attention.
Sadly, there was no ambulance at the time of the nasty incident.
