Baguma overtakes Otile at 2017 Uganda Golf Open

Richard Baguma tees off on day one at the 2017 Uganda Golf Amateurs championship in Uganda

Toro born and bred golfer Richard Baguma will tee off for day three of the 75th Uganda Golf Amateur Open Championship at the Uganda Golf Club in Kampala as the leader.

The national team golfer carries a two stroke lead having over taken day one leader and defending champion Ronald Otile on day 2.

Over 36 holes, Richard Baguma has a total gross of 147, two better than second placed Daniel Baguma.

The Toro club crew in the top 4 has Dennis Asaba and Otile with 150 and 151 strokes respectively.

Entebbe club member Herman Deco Mutebi is close with 152 gross, the same scoreline as UGC’s Joseph Mawejje and Jinja’s Ismail Mahmood.

Kenya’s Andrew Chelogoi is tied with another countryman Paul Muchangi and Rwanda’s Alloys Nsabimana on 153 gross.

Dennis Asaba tees off. He is third coming into day 3 on Friday

Day 3 will see the golfers paired up with the pressure group teeing off at 2:10 p.m.

There are over 100 amateurs taking part with the subsidiary group joining the frey on Friday.

The climax of this 4 day tournament will be held on Saturday which will witness day 4 action.

Prize giving shall be on Saturday evening with merry making and dinner.

Legendary golfer, Sadi Onito is the record winner with 12 titles under his belt.
