Mukiibi stars as Östersund win first ever group stage match in Europe | Europa League

Ronald Ddungu Mukiibi, a central defender made history on Thursday as his team Östersund garnered their first win ever in a group stage match in European competition.

Östersund condemned Zorya to a 2-0 loss at Arena L’viv thanks to goals from Saman Ghoddos in the 50th minute and Alhaji Gero in the 94th minute.

Ken Sema assisted Saman as he finished sharply with a right footed shot from the centre of the box to the left bottom left corner.

Swedish-born defender Mukiibi helped his club also become the first Swedish side to win a UEFA game in Ukraine.

The Uganda Cranes’ star was deployed in 3-1-4-2 formation before getting substituted in 67th minute for Gabriel Somi.

Östersund are currently top of Group J with three points after one match played, Athletic Club second with one after a draw with Hertha BSC.

Zorya are rock bottom with no point.
