As reported last week, striker Muhammad Shaban was finally unveiled by KCCA on a three-year deal.

The former Onduparaka temperamental forward joined in a deal expected to cost the reigning Uganda Premier League champions not less than Ugx. 70 million ($20,000).

Kawowo Sports understands that the Lugogo outfit coughed Ugx. 50 million to get the player append his signature on the dotted lines and have offered his club Ugx. 20 million.

However, the Ugx. 20 million was the initial bid by KCCA and thus is expected to go up with the Caterpillars asking for more.

KCCA first wrote to the Arua based side on September 15 before penning another letter three days later that carried the bid.

Before Onduparaka could reply, the player took the club to the Players Status Committee citing breach of contract by his bosses and the committee ruled in his favour stating that he has a right to move to any club of his choice.

However, they made it clear that the new employers must compensate the Caterpillars as agreed or the case is back in the FA.

But before anything came out, KCCA moved to unveil the player who scored 13 league goals in his maiden top flight campaign (2016-17) helping the club to finish in a respectable 5th position.

Drama at Lugogo

Shaban arrived at Lugogo on Thursday at around 9:25am in the company of his father, a brother among others.

He went straight to the club administrator’s office with a presser to unveil him set for 11:00am.

The press men comfortably sat in the press room but time approached without any sign of the player and coach showing up.

This when they learnt that Shaban had refused to sign a contract before all his money had been cleared.

Apparently, the club was only offering half the agreed amount which Shaban and his contingent refused.

There were reports that Vipers had also tabled an even better offer and that payment was instant.

Moses Kaddu, the club admin had to drive to City Hall to ensure one of the directors wired the money on Shaban’s account and only after confirmation; the player signed and was unveiled.

At this time, one top official had given up on the deal and allegedly advised to let the player go where he wants if it’s for money but a member of the executive advised otherwise and the deal went through.

He becomes KCCA’s 14th signing in the window and is expected to resume training with the club on Monday.
