10 man ACC too strong for Nile, Premier defeat Kampala Pirates

Africa Cricket Club

Robert Okoth wasted no time in chasing down the 114 set by Nile Cricket Club. He hit 2 balls out Lugogo towards Java House (Shell Bugolobi) and another on top of NCS building in his 44 off 14 balls.

Before his blitz Nile looked in control of the game with Africa Cricket Club needing another 51 runs from 7 overs but Okoth took the game away from Nile with some clean hitting after Daniel Batuwa (30) laid a foundation for 10 man ACC.

Nile was helpless in the Okoth onslaught as much as they had bowled reasonably well in picking up 4 wickets in the process.

Nile batted 1st after winning the toss and set a decent 117 but this was never enough in the end. ACC was able to chase down the total in 16 overs thanks largely to the efforts of Robert Okoth.

Meanwhile, Division 2 champions Premier got the better of Division 3 champions Pirates in Buddo. Joshua Mwanja (40) continued scoring runs for Pirates helping his side post 118 in a rain affected game that had overs reduced from 20 t0 16.

Premier were nervous in the chase scoring the winning runs in the final over with 3 balls to spare. The win for Premier boosts their chances of making it into the knock out stages.

Pirates got useful points when their game with Damani was washed out due to the Sunday afternoon rain thus sharing points with the league champions. Pirates was happier of the 2 teams but Damani were denied practice as their morning game with SKLPS was also abandoned because the latter had disciplinary issues to sort out.

Despite the lack of practice Damani and Challengers remain the top teams in Group A and they should comfortably make the quarterfinals.
