The 50 over league title is the only silverware missing in the trophy room of Jinja SS but after defeating title rivals KICC by 5 wickets over the weekend, they are now a win away from the title.
KICC were unsuccessful on the road with the home team ruthless in completing a 5 wicket win.
Jinja SS won the toss and put in the visitors to bat and on a wet astro turf the visitors struggled with the skidding balls being bundled out for 41.
Jinja SS had a slight wobble in the chase losing 5 wickets but they were never going to lose in chasing a low total with Dinah Adong (20) scoring half of the total alone helping her side to a 5 wicket win.
The win puts Jinja SS in prime position to win the title compared to their other 3 rivals (Olila High, Wanderers and KICC). They have managed to win 3 of their 4 league games and with a relatively easy final fixture against Tornado B the title seems to be Jinja SS’ to win lose.
KICC are the closet challengers but will need big wins against Olila High and Pioneer for them to dislodge the school side from the top, and since it’s a direct shoot out between Olila High and KICC, a loss to either teams will automatically keep only one of them from the title race.
Olila High and Wanderers have an outside chance to win the title but it’s dependent on other results going in their favour.
The Jinja based side have done the hard work seeing off the biggest rivals Olila High and KICC and only barely lost to Wanderers but the lose didn’t dent their title chances.
