National Hockey League: Weatherhead topple Kampala Stallions

Weatherhead coach-player Vincent Kasasa

Weatherhead dislodged Kampala Hockey Club Stallions from the top of the National Hockey League table thanks to their slim win over the side on Sunday.

The 2011 league champions ended the third round placed second with 26 points; two behind the Stallions and Sunday saw them return to action in one of the first games in the fourth round.

It was a very crucial tie as both teams are fighting for the title and Vincent Kasasa’s charges clinched victory, with Moses Tushabe scoring the lone goal.

The goal came from a short corner assisted by Kasasa in the 17th minute and it turned out a winner as KHC failed to reply.

With Wananchi securing a routine victory against Rockets on Saturday, it was important Weatherhead, who are hoping to win only their second title in history reply in the way they did.

They now lead the table standing with 29 points, a point ahead of both Wananchi and KHC.
