Pioneer winners of the ladies league in 2015 have got themselves a lifeline after defeating fellow strugglers Tornado Bee by 6 wickets.
Both former winners (with Tornado Bee the defending champions) have been languishing at the bottom of the table and they each needed the win.
However, Tornado Bee’s batting was AWOL only managing to score 103 all out.
Kenyan international Abel Queentor was the ex factor for Pioneer putting in a Lady of the match all round performance scoring 25 runs and picking up 4 wickets.
She was supported by the ever green Justine Musubika (2/16) with the ball and Leona Babirye (45 not out) with bat in hand.
The win keeps Pioneers chances of staying up alive and condemns Tornado Bee to more misery of being relegated to Division 2.
Tornado Bee has lost all its 4 games thus far and with their final game against table toppers Jinja SS, you have to fear for their survival.
Pioneer’s Captain Carol Namugenyi was happy with the win;
We managed to beat our rivals Tornado Bee and now we can relax a little bit.
We were very worried about relegation, our batting finally clicked when we needed it most.
We hope Jinja SS can do us a favour in the game against Tornado Bee and we will be sure of staying up.
Pioneer has 2 games left against Olila High and Wanderers and they at least need to get something out of both games to ensure safety.
They will be hoping Jinja SS can do them some favour by defeating Tornado Bee.
