Rwanda Amavubi Stars drew goal-less with Ethiopia to qualify for the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) 2018 final tournament that will be staged in Morocco.
After the second leg of the play off played in Kigali, Rwanda made it to join the other 15 successful countries.
During the first leg played in Addis Ababa last Sunday, the Amavubi Stars defeated the Walia Stars 3-2.
Aschalew Girma scored for Ethiopia on 17 minutes. Rwanda equalized through Eric Rutanga in the 55th minute before the home side regained the lead 10 minutes later through Sani’s header after a cross by midfielder Samson Tilahun on the left.
Muhadjiri Hakizimana capitalized on blunder by Ethiopia goalie Birhanu to level matters in the 77th minute.
Abeddy Biramahire wrapped up the business for the Rwandans 10 minutes to full time.
Rwanda becomes the third country from the CECAFA region, joining Uganda and Sudan that will play in the final tourney.
The final tournament is slated to take place in Morocco between January and February 2018.
